Competitive Community Grantmaking

The Community Foundation accepts grant applications for a variety of funding opportunities, made possible by generous donors who established funds with the Foundation. Each category or focus has different guidelines and timelines. We also offer scholarships to help current and future students pursue undergraduate and graduate education, professional development and other educational enrichment opportunities.

IMPORTANT: Grantee Portal

Nonprofits wishing to apply for funding are required to create an account in the Grantee Portal, where they can access applications and view their grant history from a variety of funding sources at the Foundation. If you have not applied for a grant in our portal previously, please take a moment to read through our FAQ and User Manual to help answer any questions you may have. Nonprofits are encouraged to create an account in the grantee portal well in advance of the deadline for the grant application. It may take up to two business days for new portal users to be verified and be able to submit an application.

A.L. Lewis Black Opportunity & Impact Fund

Grants open to nonprofit organizations working within selected neighborhoods in Duval County. Application is open February 1 – March 3, 2027.  Learn more.

Grants to improve the quality of life for Aging Adults with a focus on direct support for aging adults and caregiver support. Application is open January 5 – March 3, 2027. Learn more.

The Individual Artist Grants are designed to help Northeast Florida artists emerge to the next level of their artistic careers. These grants are offered every other year. Application is open February 23 – April 27, 2027. Learn more.

Open to small and mid-sized organizations whose primary mission is arts and culture. These grants are offered every other year. The next grant cycle will open in 2028. Learn more.

Supports nonprofit organizations serving the Beaches communities from Mayport to Guana, east of the Intracoastal Waterway. Application is open October 19 – December 2, 2026. Learn more.

Grants to improve services for young children (birth to preschool) with a focus on early learning centers and caregiver/parent support to meet their needs (Duval County only). Application is open January 5 – March 3, 2027. Learn more.

Grants to assist with providing services and resources, such as clothing, food, or other support to help residents meet their basic needs. Application open January 5 – March 3, 2027. Learn more.

The LGBTQ Community Fund for Northeast Florida makes grants to nonprofit organizations in Northeast Florida that support our LGBTQ communities. Application open February 2 – March 24, 2027. Learn more.

Grants to support projects and programs that foster inclusive prosperity in neighborhoods with high concentrations of poverty. Application is open January 5 – March 3, 2027. Learn more.

For small organizations with budgets of $150,000 or less. Funding can support strengthening organizations and program development. Application is open November 17, 2026 – January 13, 2027. Learn more.

The Dr. JoAnn Crisp-Ellert Fund makes grants to promote visual art appreciation or education in St. Augustine, FL. Sponsorship proposals up to $2,500 are considered on a rolling basis. Learn more.

Open to nonprofit organizations that support women and girls in Northeast Florida. Application is open November 30, 2026 – January 20, 2027. Learn more.

Scholarships

The Community Foundation is host to a number of scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate education. Applications for scholarships are open from January through March each year.
