JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — James Coggin, MBA, has been promoted to Vice President of Programs at The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, where he will oversee the Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking as well as a growing portfolio of impact investments.
Coggin steps into the executive leadership position with significant experience at the Foundation and in the local nonprofit sector. He joined the staff as Program Director in 2019 to lead the Supporting Neighborhoods initiative. In 2022, he was promoted to Senior Director of Grantmaking and Impact Investing as his role expanded through the Local Capital Pool, which has now invested or committed $7 million in low-cost capital to support the development of affordable housing and to grow small businesses. Prior to joining the Foundation, he worked on affordable housing at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation Jacksonville and at Operation New Hope.
“James understands that philanthropy is more than making grants – it’s about deploying every available tool to create impact,” said Foundation President Isaiah M. Oliver. “His leadership in grantmaking and his commitment to growing our impact investing practice have strengthened the Foundation’s ability to serve donors and respond to community needs.”
Coggin holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Florida and a bachelor’s in entrepreneurship and small business management from Florida State University. He has served on mayoral transition committees on neighborhoods, on the City of Jacksonville’s Public Service Grants Council, and on the board of the Murray Hill Preservation Association. He lives in Murray Hill with his wife, Sara, and three children.
