Individual Artists

Each year approximately eight artists are awarded Individual Artist grants through Art Ventures, The Community Foundation’s initiative that supports individual artists and small and mid-sized arts organizations. Art Ventures has made nearly 200 grants to individual artists and more than 125 grants to small arts organizations since 1990.

The Individual Artist Grants are designed to help Northeast Florida artists emerge to the next level of their artistic careers. The maximum grant request is $3,500. Applicants must be:

  • At least 18 years old,
  • Legal residents of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau or St. Johns County, and have resided in one of these counties for at least 12 months at the time of application,
  • Must not be currently enrolled in an art-related degree program, or planning to pursue a degree in the coming year,
  • Due to the high demand for grants, artists may not receive grants in consecutive years, and are eligible to receive a maximum of three Art Ventures awards in a lifetime.
