President's Letter: Nina's 20th Anniversary
I came to the Foundation just days before my 43rd birthday. My son was entering his senior year in high school and I was ready to accept a new role that would offer me an opportunity to grow in service to our community.

Andy Bell was the President of the Foundation and over the next three years, he taught me a great deal about philanthropy, community foundations and grantmaking. And he recommended me to be his successor when he retired in 2004.

During my 20 years at TCF, we have celebrated many milestone moments and we have weathered many storms. And as the saying goes, the days have passed slowly but the years have flown by much too quickly.

WGA Turns 20!
The Women's Giving Alliance is celebrating 20 years of inspiring women to be strategic philanthropists and supporting women & girls in NE Florida. In just two decades, WGA has invested more than $7.6 million in local nonprofits. Dozens of women who were founding members in 2001 recently gathered to celebrate with a luncheon at The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. For more information: www.wganefl.org/20th-anniversary
Year-End Giving
It's October - time to start doing some year-end planning. Keep these items in mind as the Fall progresses--December will be here before you know it.
Remember: there are significant charitable giving incentives in the CARES Act that have been extended through 2021!

• You can claim a standard deduction ($300/single; $600/married filing jointly) for cash contributions to charitable organizations.

• If you've benefitted from this year's strong stock market, consider the advantages of gifting appreciated public stock that you've held for more than one year. This can mean significant tax benefits in comparison to cash contributions. Be sure to alert us if you plan to give appreciated securities to your Fund at The Community Foundation.

• Right now, there's a very attractive, limited time option for those individuals over age 59 1/2; who have highly appreciated taxable accounts and qualified Individual Retirement Account(s). Read more from John Zell, our VP, Development, on this opportunity to take a 100% AGI deduction for gifts of cash to a qualified charity from you IRA.
*As always, be sure to check with your professional advisor(s) for your particular circumstances

Art Ventures Recipient: Richard Colado
Our annual Art Ventures grants lift up local artists every year and have impact far beyond our community. Last year, Art Ventures recipient Richard Colado used his grant to produce a record.

"The Community Foundation recognized my goal of telling the story about my hometown and helped my hopes come to fruition. Now, the record is out and people are listening all over the country and world. The lasting benefit is that there is music and songs about our city that are out in the world now, living a life of their own and carrying our memories with them."

TCF Finance Team Goes On The Road
TCF's Finance Team was front and center at the FAOG (Finance, Administration, & Operations Group for Community Foundations) conference in Memphis recently. Senior Finance Manager Erin Broderick spoke on Incorporating Alternative Investments into Community Foundation Portfolios. Occurring every two years, this all volunteer conference is put on by and for community foundation finance professionals. Topics covered all matters finance, investment and operational – from HR to core system conversions to impact investing. The conference is a unique opportunity to learn from and visit with colleagues from around the country, as well as to connect with vendors.

"Masks and social distancing did not interrupt the most valuable part of the trip – networking! We were proud of our team, proud of our Foundation, and energized by all that we learned and shared" reported Grace Sacerdote, EVP/CFO.
