Our Impact
Created in 2014, the LGBTQ Community Fund brings together individuals focused on building an inclusive and welcoming environment, while celebrating and supporting Northeast Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Through collective giving, research and strategic grantmaking, the Fund changes and adapts with the world around us, to meet new needs as they are presented in our community.
In 2021, the LGBTQ Community Fund underwrote The Many Sides of Pride Film Festival in conjunction with MOCA Jacksonville, showcasing the best in LGBTQ film and films by LGBTQ directors, to celebrate their diverse impact on the world of cinema. In 2022 and again in 2023, the LGBTQ Community Fund sponsored the LGBTQ film block of the Jacksonville Film Festival.
The LGBTQ Community Fund makes grants annually to agencies like JASMYN, UNF LGBT Center and PFLAG, thanks to generous donors who contribute each year to the LGBTQ Community Fund for Northeast Florida. Donations by check, credit card, or shares of appreciated stock in a publicly-traded company or bonds can all go to work immediately as part of the annual grantmaking process.
In addition, our LGBTQ community needs a more stable form of long-term funding. That’s why the LGBTQ Community Fund Endowment has been established. An endowment protects the invested principal and only distributes grants from the earnings, thereby ensuring the fund’s existence in perpetuity. The Chartrand Family and Delores Barr Weaver have seeded the LGBTQ Community Fund Endowment with substantial gifts, and we now have an opportunity to build an enduring financial resource. Your gift to the Endowment is a promise to support the LGBTQ community—forever.
