LGBTQ Community Fund

The LGBTQ Community Fund (LGBTQ Fund) will award grants, up to $1,500, to Northeast Florida-area 501(c)3 organizations to improve their competence and/or capacity to serve the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community through the establishment of a new Grassroots Grants Program (GGP).

LGBTQ Community Fund for Northeast Florida logoGrassroots Grants are intended to build capacity and strengthen the effectiveness of small scale efforts within an organization that currently serves or would like to better serve members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning community.

Funding Priorities

Proposals should support the mission of the LGBTQ Fund and reflect various aspects of these funding priorities:

  • Build the cultural competence and capacity of organizations who serve LGBTQ individuals
  • Advance effective policies that will improve the quality of life for LGBTQ individuals and their families
  • Respond to community-level data and analysis about the pressing needs of the LGBTQ community in Northeast Florida (please see Williams Institute Report)

Grant Requirements

  • The LGBTQ Fund Advisory Board reserves the right to request additional information at any time.
  • Grant funds not spent for approved purposes specified in the grant application must be returned to the LGBTQ Fund (unless approved in advance by the LGBTQ Fund)
  • Applicant organizations must demonstrate that their membership and/or service population are contained within the Northeast Florida‐area and must agree to use grant funds solely within Northeast Florida.
  • Grantee will be required to submit a brief description at the conclusion of the funded work to the LGBTQ Fund on the use and impact of their grants funds

LGBTQ Community Fund–2019 Grassroots Grant Program Timeline:

  • Rolling Application Deadline, Jan - Dec 2019
  • Grants Committee reviews applications and in some cases, site visits may be requested
  • Applicant notified of award status within one month of applying
  • Grassroots Grants dollars must be used within 12 months of receipt. Funds not used by this date must be returned to the LGBTQ Fund.
