How We Invest
Endowed gifts given to The Community Foundation become part of our permanent endowment, which means they will benefit our community forever. We invest the gifts we receive so they grow and maximize the resources available to us to address community needs.
Assets at The Community Foundation are pooled and invested collectively based on the diverse spending time horizons of our individual donors.
Total assets invested by the Foundation exceeded $275 million as of December 31, 2016. Our donors benefit from investing collectively in our investment pools – because of our size, we have access to quality investment advisors and top-tier managers, some of whom require large minimum investments and long-term relationships to invest. We have the ability to construct diverse pools and to invest for a perpetual time horizon.
The Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees is ultimately responsible for the stewardship of the endowment, and has delegated to the Investment Committee the responsibility to oversee and make decisions related to the investment of all endowed assets of the Foundation.
We have a dedicated Investment Committee, comprised of successful business and investment professionals. The Investment Committee has engaged Colonial Consulting LLC, an independent, institutional investment consulting firm with fiduciary responsibility to the Foundation for recommending investment strategy, asset allocation, and investment managers.
