LGBTQ Community Fund
The LGBTQ Community Fund (LGBTQ Fund) will award individual grants, up to $25,000, to Northeast Florida-area 501(c)(3) organizations to:
- Build Greater Togetherness Within our LGBTQ Communities
- Support Northeast Florida Welcoming and Celebrating its LGBTQ Population
LGBTQ Priorities Populations
Priority Populations have been set in response to community-level data and analysis about the pressing needs of the LGBTQ community in Northeast Florida (please see Williams Institute Report) although projects benefiting other LGBTQ populations will be considered.
- Aging Adults
- Black/African Americans
- Gender Minorities
- Youth
Grants will be considered for a wide variety of ideas. The following are examples of grants previously made to both LGBTQ-serving organizations and mainstream organizations wishing to advance work in the focus areas;
- Emerging Leaders training programs for LGBTQ individuals
- Family support projects
- LGBTQ Sensitivity Training
- LGBTQ Film Festival
- LGBTQ Inclusion workshops to share best practices for organizations
- Creating an LGBTQ Employee Resource Group in the nonprofit sector
- Transgender education & visibility campaign for college students
- Nationally recognized public speakers on LGBTQ issues
Areas Typically Not Funded:
- Requests outside our region (Duval, Nassau, Baker, Clay and St. Johns counties)
- Grants to individuals or for-profit organizations
- Capital campaigns and endowment funds
- Grants to organizations for re-granting purposes
- Debt retirement/deficit funding
- Projects that promote political activity or religious views
- Activities occurring prior to grant decisions
- Projects typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local government
- Applicant organizations must demonstrate that their membership and/or service population are contained within the Northeast Florida‐area and must agree to use grant funds solely within Northeast Florida.
Timeline:
- March 28, 2022: Pre-Applications open
- May 5, 2022: Pre-Application Deadline
- Grants Committee reviews applications and in some cases, additional information may be requested
- Selected applicants invited forward to submit a full application by July 1, 2022
- September 1, 2022: Full applications due
- Applicants notified of funding decision by November 4, 2022
- Grants awarded may begin as early as December 1, 2022, lasting through December 31, 2023
