LGBTQ Support Grants

The LGBTQ Community Fund for Northeast Florida’s goal is to support organizations that serve the LGBTQ community with a focus on building greater togetherness within our LGBTQ Communities and to support Northeast Florida welcoming and celebrating its LGBTQ Population.

LGBTQ Fund Grants

As the fund celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024, it will offer general program support grants up to $10,000, to support successful programs for selected nonprofit organizations with a primary mission to serve LGBTQ+ populations.

LGBTQ Priority Populations

Priority Populations have been set in response to community-level data and analysis about the pressing needs of the LGBTQ community in Northeast Florida (please see Williams Institute Report) although projects benefiting other LGBTQ populations will be considered.

  • Aging Adults
  • Black/African Americans
  • Gender Minorities
  • Youth

Created in 2014, the LGBTQ Community Fund brings together individuals focused on building an inclusive and welcoming environment, while celebrating and supporting Northeast Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.

Eligibility for Nonprofit Organizations

  • Nonprofit organizations with current 501(c)(3) status, and a 2-year work history
  • Located in and serving at least one of these counties: Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns.
  • Annual operating budget of $50,000 or above
  • Organizations with budgets over $50,000 will be eligible for up to $10,000
  • Organizations with budgets of $50,000 or below will be eligible for $5,000

Areas typically not funded:

  • Grants to Individuals
  • Capital Campaigns and endowment funds
  • Grants to organizations for re-granting purposes
  • Debt retirement/deficit funding
  • Projects that promote political activity or religious views
  • Requests outside our region (must be in: Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam or St. Johns counties)

Examples of Past Grants

Grants will be considered for a wide variety of ideas. The following are examples of grants previously made to both LGBTQ-serving organizations and mainstream organizations wishing to advance work in the focus areas:

  1. Emerging Leaders training programs for LGBTQ individuals
  2. Family support projects
  3. LGBTQ Sensitivity Training
  4. LGBTQ Film Festival
  5. LGBTQ Inclusion workshops to share best practices for organizations
  1. Creating an LGBTQ Employee Resource Group in the nonprofit sector
  2. Transgender education & visibility campaign for college students
  3. Nationally recognized public speakers on LGBTQ issues

Timeline

 
  • January 2, 2024: Applications open. View our How to Apply Guide for step-by-step instructions.
  • January 3, 2024 – February 14, 2024: Assistance is available. If you need assistance with applying, you can make an appointment with our team for an in-person, virtual, or phone appointment. Please submit your appointment request here.
  • February 15, 2023: Applications are due
  • Grants awarded may begin as early as May 1, 2024, extending through December 31, 2025, supporting a 12-month period.
