Community Foundation Disaster Relief Efforts

Our sister community foundations around the United States are quick to mobilize and find ways to assist thier communities after the devastation of a natural disaster. If you are looking for ways to help in the aftermath, here are links to disaster relief funds that have been setup to help:

  • Joplin, Missouri Tornado Disaster Relief Fund:
    If you would like to send financial support to help with the tornado relief efforts in Joplin, Mo., and surrounding areas, the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation has created a fund to pool donations. Community Foundation staff will perform the due diligence to ensure that dollars are put to the most efficient use and distributed to where they are needed the most. 

  • Reading, Kansas Tornado Disaster Relief Fund:
    If you would like to send financial support to help with the tornado relief efforts in Reading, Kan., and surrounding areas, the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation has created a fund to pool donations. Community Foundation staff will perform the due diligence to ensure that dollars are put to the most efficient use and distributed to where they are needed the most.

  • Alabama Tornado Recovery Fund:
    In the aftermath of the April 27 storms, the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham established the Alabama Tornado Recovery Fund to accept gifts that will in turn be used throughout the state in the regions impacted by the April 27 tornadoes. Ten community foundations serving Alabama will work together to effectively deploy these resources needed for long-term recovery.
