LAKE CITY, Florida – Keith Leibfried, president of First Federal Savings Bank of Florida presented a check in the amount of $30,000 today to Tom Brown, president of the Suwannee Valley Community Foundation.

Mr. Leibfried stated: "I am very excited to support the work of the Suwannee Valley Community Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is 'to stimulate philanthropy to build a better community.' Last year the Foundation expanded the philanthropic activity in our community by making grants to six organizations. $25,000 will be placed in the unrestricted endowment at the foundation to help secure a matching grant from The Community Foundation in Jacksonville, which will be used by the board of the Suwannee Valley Community Foundation to further its grantmaking efforts within our community. The remaining $5,000 will be available to the board of the Suwannee Valley Community Foundation for grantmaking to benefit senior citizens in our region."

Created in 2002 to serve the residents of Columbia, Hamilton, Lafayette, Suwannee and Union counties, Florida, The Suwannee Valley Community Foundation, is a community organization that provides guidance and assistance for establishing funds to benefit not-for-profit organizations in the Suwannee Valley Region. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide philanthropic leadership; develop new philanthropic assets for the community; and, through grantmaking from funds established at the Foundation, support nonprofit organizations in the Suwannee Valley. It is governed by an advisory board of citizens from the region. Advisory Board President, Tom Brown stated: "We are very honored that Keith Leibfried and the directors of First Federal Savings Bank of Florida have decided to support the Foundation. As a community foundation we are a grantmaker, convener, educator, and investor of community endowment. Our purpose is to secure, manage and distribute philanthropic resources in support of building a better community. The gift from First Federal will enable us to continue our philanthropic work within the community."
