The Community Safety Net Fund at The Community Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants to 13 area organizations that provide basic services to people in need. This marks the third year that the community's leading philanthropic organizations -- the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, the Lucy Gooding Charitable Foundation Trust and The Community Foundation -- have joined with individual donors to support those nonprofits that provide shelter, food and emergency services to individuals and families impacted by the ongoing recession. The Florida BrAIve Fund was an out-growth of the Iraq Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund at the California Community Foundation. IADIF was established in 2006 by an anonymous donor specifically to meet the needs of American military personnel and/or their families who have been impacted by deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.
