Art Ventures Initiatives
Fostering Vitality in the Arts – The Foundation seeks to support both arts organizations and individual artists.
- Organizations – Grants are available to support the artistic and administrative development of small arts organizations. Grants range in size from $3,000 to $10,000 and may support work lasting up to 24 months. Grants are awarded only for activities in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau or St. Johns counties.
- Individual Artists – Grants of up to $3,500 are available to support individual artists as they advance their work. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and have resided in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau or St. Johns counties for at least 12 months at the time of application.
Under this initiative, grants will not be made for:
- General operating support of existing programs;
- Construction or renovation of facilities;
- Purchase of capital equipment;
- Purchase of tickets for fundraising activities.

Small Arts Organizations
JACKSONVILLE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL -- $10,000 to support the Jaxx Jazz Community Youth Ensemble for upper elementary and middle school students from throughout Jacksonville. The grant is made with support from the Harold K. Smith Fund.
RIVERSIDE FINE ARTS ASSOCIATION -- $8,000 to acquire specialized financial services hardware and software to facilitate ticket and merchandise purchases online and at association events for current and future clients. The grant is made with support from the Harold K. Smith Fund.
Individual Artists
LINDA BROADFOOT -- $3,500 to study the photogravure process with expert Jon Goodman, and to support editioning recent photographs.
EMILY DOUGLASS -- $3,500 to study printmaking at the nationally-acclaimed Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, and for the creation of a narrative suite of thematically-driven prints.
ZACHARY FREEMAN -- $3,500 for materials and production (printing and mounting) costs of photographs featuring photographic stills using darkness and moving light sources.
ROSEANN HERUD -- $3,500 to purchase equipment and supplies (digital camera, color photo printer, computer for photo programs, paints, frames, etc.) to enable expansion of her work in Duval County elementary schools and Shands Hospital.
DANIEL SOLOMON -- $3,500 to purchase a laptop computer and updated software that will allow the filmmaker to edit his work in any location.
JENNIFER WOODALL -- $3,500 to support studio space within an artists’ cooperative, for art supplies to produce a large body of oil and acrylic paintings, and for reproduction of the artwork.
