The Community Foundation in Jacksonville received a $5 million 2-year grant from the Iraq Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund (IADIF) of the California Community Foundation, to provide assistance to North Florida military personnel and their families who have been impacted by deployments as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The particular focus of this fund is on meeting the unmet needs.
In 2008, The Community Foundation convened an Advisory Committee of military and community leaders from throughout North Florida to advise the Foundation as it sought to learn about services available to military personnel and families affected by service in Afghanistan and Iraq, the gaps in available services, and the highest priority needs. Going forward, these military and community leaders will continue to serve as an Advisory Committee for this initiative.
The Foundation is collaborating with the Dade Community Foundation and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice, each of which also received a $5 million 2-year grant from the IADIF of the California Community Foundation, to make The Florida BrAIve Fund a statewide initiative.
We are no longer accepting applications for the BrAIve Fund.
