Types of Grants
The Community Foundation makes both competitive and non-competitive grants within Fields of Interest.
Competitive grants are made through the Foundation's various grantmaking fields of interest and initiatives. They are awarded on the basis of merit and compatibility with the goals of the foundation. Most require formal application and have a specified application process and deadline dates.
Non-competitive grants are made at the recommendation of various fund advisors, or may be negotiated based on the grantmaking initiatives of the Foundation. Approximately 85% of the grants made by The Community Foundation are made through a donor advised process. This process allows the donor or fund advisor to exercise their own discretion over the grants that are made.
